New London Stories will develop primary source research and writing skills through in-depth study of some of the people (whether they be famous, infamous or little-known) and history of Southeastern Connecticut. During the first half of the semester, the class will research a single subject of the group’s choosing and produce a written article of publishable quality about what the class has learned working together.  During the remainder of the semester, students will choose an individual topic and conduct independent research and produce an article about their research subject as a final project.  Peer and instructor review will aid students as they conduct their individual research and develop their individual articles.  The course will make extensive use of on-line resources as well as in-person visits to land record repositories, vital record offices, cemeteries, and historical sites.

Course end date is set to the end of the day on which grades are due to the registrar.
